It’s no surprise, but for being an island-inspired company, we're pretty darn serious about our slippers. From materials to design, our goal was to make them the all-around best options out there — indoors and out. Our slippers are so incredibly soft, cozy, and comfortable that it’s often hard to want to take them off. And thanks to an outdoor-worthy sole, you don’t have to.
With OluKai slippers, though, comfort doesn’t just come from the use of premium materials like shearling, wool, and cotton. It comes from the cushioned and contoured support of our footbeds, too.
Trust us, the difference you’ll feel after a day of lounging or walking around in supportive slippers with proper arch support is pretty unbelievable. Not to mention the long-term health benefits.
Here are a couple of good reasons why our Men’s and Women’s slippers are the best and most comfortable slippers on the market:
1. Let’s Start With Comfort
Basically, it all comes back to our Wet Sand Principle™. Every pair of OluKai footwear (including our slippers, of course) is designed to capture the sensation of a barefoot stepping into wet sand.
So picture this: All at once, wet sand cups the heel, fills the arch and splays the toes — molding to the foot regardless of the shape. The cupped heel offers stability and shock absorption. The anatomically correct arch and contoured footbed provide all-day comfort. The toe box allows the toes to spread naturally with no restrictions. That’s what your feet feel like in our slippers.
Then, there’s the arch support. As a rule of thumb, most podiatric experts recommend looking for footwear that supports your specific arch type, has a contoured footbed, and is built with a strong, sturdy sole. Thus, the arch is one of the most important structural elements of your feet — which is precisely why we support it.
The more supported the arch, the more balanced your entire body becomes. That balance can lead to less hip, knee, and back pain, improved posture, and sustained comfort. Because we construct all of our slippers using an anatomically correct arch support, customers often report pain alleviation.
2. Now, Let’s Talk Materials…
All of our slippers are crafted with premium materials and leather that wrap your feet in comfort. Genuine shearling for softness. Wool for warmth. Cotton for breathability. Full-grain leather for durability and style. Not to mention, all these materials are great for temperature regulation — meaning you can wear your house (or out-of-house) slippers year-round.
Our leathers are full-grain and come from Gold-Level Tanneries that are part of the Leather Working Group, a not-for-profit organization responsible for the world's leading environmental certification for the leather manufacturing industry. We also use responsibly sourced 100% genuine shearling. Real shearling is softer, temperature-regulating, breathable, durable, and moisture-wicking all at once.
Basically, our materials have all of the qualities you look for in a finely crafted slipper. We use a few other premium materials, too, like heathered jersey cotton, terrycloth, and wool. You can expect unmatched comfort and warmth from them, too.
3. Our Drop-In Heel
Beyond materials, our slippers and house shoes have design benefits that set them apart from the competition. For one, you won’t have to worry about crushing the heel when you throw them on in a hurry.
Why? Because our Drop-In Heel collapses, you can wear any closed-toe style as a slipper or a slide. Many of our slippers also have a removable and washable footbed to help you keep things fresh. Because clean slippers last longer (and smell better).
4. These Slippers Love the Outdoors Too
Whether you’re looking for leather or cotton, warmth or breathability, closed-toe slippers, or mules — we have you (and your feet) covered. There’s truly a slipper for everyone.
And here’s the thing about making the world’s most comfortable slippers: You won’t ever want to stop wearing them. That’s why we added a durable rubber sole that can handle a little outdoor wear. We also use non-marking Wet Grip Rubber and Hawaiian-inspired traction pods, so you don’t have to worry about scuffing your floors or slipping around on wet surfaces.
Some of our slippers are more durable and grippy than others, so make sure you check the product descriptions and outsole features first. But for the most part, for mere “slippers,” ours sure can do some wandering beyond the house.
