"This collection was inspired by breezeblocks, a signature element of most Honolulu neighborhoods. They really are a perfect blend of form and function."

- Noa Emberson

Shaped by the Trades

Keeping the Islands cool for generations, breezeblocks (decorative concrete blocks) have become synonymous with Honolulu's cityscape. When stacked, they form unique patterns that allow the trade winds to flow unrestricted, all the while providing structural support to the home.

After careful exploration, two patterns, “Talking Story” and “Rain or Shine" emerged:

"Talking Story" takes inspiration from the underground fungal network that enables trees to have silent conversations.
“Rain or Shine” features an alternating sun and rainbow and speaks to the beauty and prevalence of rainbows in Hawai‘i.

The Playlist

"The original inspiration for this collection goes back to artwork I created for a monthly playlist, The Pau Hana, that I curated with a friend - Troy Buckland. With each new edition we dropped, I’d release a fresh piece of art," says Noa. "Music is such a huge part of my life, and I can't imagine designing without it."
