The world can be as large or as small as we choose to experience it. For the crew of Hōkūle'a, it can seem both vast and closed in at the same time.

Hōkūle'a - the iconic voyaging canoe whose journeys have revived the 2000 year old legacy of exploration, courage, and ingenuity that brought the first Polynesians to Hawai'i- has played an important role in the renaissance of ancient Hawaiian culture and in helping to awaken the pride in being Hawaiian. And while its crews navigate the wide open seas, they also navigate life together. The highs and the lows. The power of community. And the need to work in harmony with our planet. We all have our "canoe", whether it's our family, our neighborhood, or our town. Perhaps by looking to the wisdom of the past, we too can be guided to Mālama Honua - to care for Mother Earth.
