OluKai Helps Kick-Off First Kaaboo Del Mar Festival

Skies were clear and the sun blazing at the first Kaaboo Del Mar, which took place September 18-20 at the historic Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds. While it was certainly hot, the heat didn't keep music lovers from flocking to the inaugural event … musicians, artists, comedians, artisanal cuisine vendors, beauty and fashion pop-up shops combined to create the ultimate, three-day "mix-perience" festival. Kaaboo Del Mar featured seven stages arranged throughout the grounds, which saw performances from over 100 performers, including No Doubt, The Killers, Train, Foster The People, Slightly Stoopid, Ben Harper, Snoop Dogg and The Roots, among many others. For the first two days, the OluKai Aloha Lounge set up shop outside the Trestles Stage and treated VIP pass members to an exclusive gifting of OluKai footwear, giving festival-goers a choice between seven different styles before finally moving outside the Mercedes-Benz Main Stage to finish up the weekend. Visitors to the lounge pinned flags on the interactive Aloha Map, marking places visited as well as spots for future travels, relaxed in the shade and challenged one another to a game of cornhole. Artists and OluKai brand ambassadors, Kamea Hadar and Tati Suarez, were also at the event, lending their talents to the festival and live-painting two, vibrant multi-story murals and OluKai's own Aloha sculpture was displayed in the art garden. We had an amazing day on Sunday watching Switchfoot as well as Michael Franti and The Spearheads rock the Grandview Stage. People of all ages were dancing, singing and volleying a storm of beach balls, keeping the energy high and the vibes happy, while unicyclists, dancers and mini parades of ornately costumed performers elevated the festival experience as Kaaboo-goers moved between the stages. We enjoyed the luxe experience of the upscale "Palate" offerings and craft libations, which featured regional delicacies and small-batch culinary plates from 18 top local restaurants and chefs. We also browsed Nordstrom's pop-up shop along the chic, "Indulgences" alley, and took a moment to cool off at the Bulleit Bourbon lounge. The Killer's packed the Mercedes-Benz Main Stage and ended Kaaboo with a much-anticipated, high-energy performance. In all, it was an amazing first event, and we can't wait to see what next year brings! To see all the photos from this amazing weekend, follow the link below: KaaBoo Music Festival Photo Gallery
